Host: Carla Newton, MD
Dr. Newton received her BS from Texas A&M University and MD from Texas A&M College of Medicine. She then completed a residency in general surgery at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Temple, Texas, followed by a residency in colon and rectal surgery at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. Dr. Newton is currently an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Temple, Texas where she is affiliated with Baylor College of Medicine.
Moderator: Henry Lujan, MD, FACS, FASCRS
Dr. Lujan graduated from the University of Chicago in 1986. He received his MD from the University of Illinois, College of Medicine in Chicago. He completed residency training in general surgery at the Finch University of Health Sciences/The Chicago Medical School at Mount Sinai Hospital in Chicago. After his residency, Dr. Lujan completed his fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery at the Orlando Regional Medical Center, in Orlando, Florida. Dr. Lujan is currently the Program Director of the Advanced GI, Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellowship Program at Jackson South Medical Center in Miami, Florida.

Dr. Alcabes received her BA from Amherst College, and MD from Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City. She went on to complete her residency in general surgery at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, New York. Dr. Alcabes has completed two surgical fellowship programs – one for Colorectal Surgery with the Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson program, and a second for Minimally Invasive Surgery/Advanced Rectal Cancer Management at Lankenau Medical Center in Pennsylvania. Dr. Alcabes is currently an attending with Atlantic Health at Overlook Medical Center in New Jersey and serves as Faculty for the Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson fellowship program.
