McGee,-Michael-(1).jpgMichael F. McGee, MD, FASCRS
Dr. Michael McGee is a colorectal surgeon at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Associate Professor of Surgery at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Prior to obtaining his medical degree at Drexel University, he was trained as a mechanical engineer. After completing general surgery training at Case Western Reserve University, Dr. McGee completed colorectal surgery fellowship at Cleveland Clinic. While at Case Western, Dr. McGee completed the Dudley P. Allen Scholarship dedicated to clinical research in minimally invasive surgery and surgical endoscopy. Dr. McGee’s clinical interests include complex re-operative abdominal surgery, minimally invasive colorectal surgery, surgical endoscopy, abdominal wall reconstruction, and anorectal surgery for cancer and inflammatory bowel disease. He is co-director of the 50+ hospital Illinois Surgical Quality Improvement Collaborative (ISQIC) where he led statewide quality improvement projects to reduce surgical site infections and developed a prehabilitation program for surgical patients. His research interests including surgical quality improvement, implementation science, and patient education. He is an active member of several national surgical organizations, multiple editorial boards, and has authored over 50 publications and received multiple grants and awards for research, teaching, and humanism. Dr. McGee is the current chairperson for system-wide enhanced recovery programs at Northwestern Memorial Health Care and is co-chairperson of the general surgery health system clinical collaborative, which oversees clinical integration of the general surgery service line for over 7 Northwestern Medicine hospitals in Northern Illinois.

Krezalek-Monica.jpgMonika A. Krezalek, MD
Dr. Krezalek received her MD from Loyola Stritch School of Medicine. She completed her residency, basic science fellowship, and Master of Science in Public Health Sciences degree at the University of Chicago. Dr. Krezalek completed residency in colon and rectal surgery at the Mayo Clinic. She is currently at the NorthShore University HealthSystem and has an appointment as an Assistant Professor at the University of Chicago.
 
Steinhagen,-Emily.jpgEmily Steinhagen, MD, FACS, FASCRS
Dr. Emily Steinhagen received her BA from Williams College and MD from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where she also completed her residency in general surgery. She completed a research fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and a residency in colon and rectal surgery at the University of Chicago. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Surgery at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, where she also serves as the Associate Program Director of the General Surgery Residency and the Clerkship Director for 3rd year medical students.
