This webinar is designed to provide surgeons with knowledge of the work up and management of anal dysplasia. Discussions include incidence, risk factors, and indications for high resolution anoscopy and its role in the prevention of anal cancer. The goal of this educational activity is to enable surgeons to establish an anal dysplasia screening and treatment program for patients at high risk for anal dysplasia and anal cancer.
 
At the conclusion of this session, participants should be able to:
  1. Know the incidence and risk factors for anal dysplasia.
  2. Learn how to identify patients at high risk for anal dysplasia and anal cancer.
  3. Understand the role high resolution anoscopy has in the management of anal dysplasia and prevention of anal cancer.

Dr. Koury is a colorectal surgeon on the teaching faculty at UPMC Harrisburg in Harrisburg, PA. He received his medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and completed his residency in general surgery at Rutgers in Newark, NJ. His postgraduate training includes a minimally invasive surgery fellowship at George Washington University and a colorectal residency at Thomas Jefferson University. He is the director of the rectal cancer accreditation committee and the director of the anal dysplasia clinic at UPMC Central division. His clinical expertise includes the use of laparoscopy and minimally invasive surgery for colorectal cancer, complex diverticulitis, and laparoscopic approaches to stoma reversal. 
 
1.pngNicole Saur, MD, FACS, FASCRS
Dr. Saur is an Associate Professor of Clinical Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania. She did her General Surgery training at Tufts Medical Center and her Colon and Rectal Surgery Fellowship at Cleveland Clinic Florida. She is the Director of the PeRioperative Evaluation and Planning (PREP) program and the Geriatric Surgery Program at Pennsylvania Hospital. Dr. Saur has a clinical interest in advanced laparoscopic techniques and the optimization of patients for surgery (Prehabilitation), and a clinical and research interest in the care of older adults including preoperative frailty assessment, prehabilitation, and functional recovery.

3.pngStephen E. Goldstone, MD, FACS
Dr. Stephen E. Goldstone, M.D. is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and an active member of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. He attended the State University of NY at Albany and graduated Summa Cum Laude and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He attended the Albert Einstein College of Medicine where he was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha, the medical honor society. He completed a surgery residency at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center and served as Chief Resident for the last two years of his residency. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery at The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and has a surgical practice in New York City. Dr. Goldstone has spoken at conferences around the world and has done extensive research on human papillomavirus (HPV). His work has been published in many prestigious medical journals. He has developed a surgical technique to treat anal HPV dysplasia and is currently involved in testing both prevention and treatment procedures for HPV.
