Tracy L. Hull

2019 to 2020

There is a saying that goes: “May you live in interesting times.” Ironically, that saying is an English translation of a traditional Chinese curse! Truly, what an interesting time the past twelve months have been. When I assumed the presidency of ASCRS, things were far different than they are now. Within the past year, all of our professional and many of our personal lives have been touched by the Covid-19 pandemic. Also, for the first time in the history of ASCRS the Annual Scientific Meeting was canceled. Through all of this we have remained resilient, dedicated to our profession, and inspired with the hope for a better tomorrow.

Over the past year there have been positive changes. We have embraced technology with virtual education, used social media applications to engage and communicate with our members and partners, and the Society has moved to self-management as a stand-alone organization. Change is never easy, but it provides the opportunity to look at how we do things and improve on the process.

During my term, I have been lucky enough to travel and meet many of you in your local communities. I have worked closely with numerous members on a vast variety of projects. I am truly appreciative of all the dedicated work people have put forth to complete projects over the past 12 months for our society. I am confident that ASCRS will continue to flourish and grow in the years ahead. Thank you for the privilege of serving as your ASCRS President and for a memorable year.
