Pandemic Pearls: Things We Learned

Monday, May 2, 2:45 - 3:45 pm

CME Credit Hours: 1

The COVID-19 pandemic was a unique natural disaster that forced many colorectal patients and surgeons to rapidly adopt new innovations and changes in their clinical practice. This session is built to reflect on the changes that affected colorectal surgery patients, trainees, and clinicians and recognize opportunities to improve surgical care delivery moving forward.  From delays in colorectal cancer care to leveraging technology to improve patient outreach, this session is intended to provide surgeons with pragmatic reflections on lessons we learned from caring for colorectal patients during the pandemic.

Objectives

At the conclusion of this session, participants should be able to:
  1. Identify the impact of the pandemic on colorectal cancer care
  2. Incorporate “best practices” in utilization of technology into colorectal surgical practice
  3. Recognize the impact of the pandemic on colorectal surgical training
