The management of diverticulitis has changed over the past decades. In this session, we will discuss the shifts in the treatment paradigm of diverticulitis. We will review the evidence behind the new guidelines for the treatment of this prevalent disease.

  1. Describe medical and lifestyle interventions to manage diverticular disease
  2. Identify the indications for surgical management in emergent and elective situations
  3. Recognize techniques to manage complex presentations of diverticular disease
