The Research Foundation of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons is pleased to announce that through funding generously provided by Intuitive Surgical, multiple research awards to investigate robotic surgery are available.

The Research in Robotic Surgical Technology Grant provides an investigator the opportunity to pursue research specifically germane to robotic surgical technology in the field of colon and rectal surgery.

Funding is available for up to three $50,000 one year grants to investigate robotic surgery. Collaborative proposals that include two or more institutions are encouraged and may be funded up to $100,000 for one year. Please view further details on the Research Foundation Grant page.

The American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (ASCRS) has an opportunity for surgeons to showcase innovative research during the New Technologies Symposium, which will be held during the 2017 Tripartite Meeting, June 10-14, 2017 in Seattle, WA.

Abstracts must be submitted by Tuesday, November 29 at 11:59 pm EST (US Time).

This non-CME symposium focuses on new innovations in the area of colorectal surgery, such as pharmacology, devices, prototypes, techniques and approaches. It serves as a national platform to highlight early discoveries.

The Sherman Prize -- Recognizing Excellence in Crohn's Disease and Colitis

Is one of your peers making exceptional and pioneering contributions in the fight to overcome Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis? Consider nominating them for the Sherman Prize – the first prize of its kind to recognize health care providers, medical researchers, public health advocates and educators who are advancing patient care, medical research, public service, and professional/public education in the field of IBD.

Two Sherman Prizes of $100,000 each are awarded annually to individuals with extraordinary records of achievement, and a $25,000 Sherman Emerging Leader Prize is awarded to an individual who demonstrates high potential.

The Sherman Prize is accepting nominations through April 30, 2017 for the second annual award cycle. If you know an outstanding individual with a track record of achievement in the field of IBD, nominate them today at ShermanPrize.org.

The new Sherman Prize, rewarding outstanding achievements in addressing the challenges of Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis, is now accepting nominations.

The Sherman Prize for Excellence in Crohn’s and Colitis will recognize outstanding contributions by health care professionals, medical researchers, public health advocates and educators who are advancing patient care, medical research and public service in the field of Crohn’s and colitis. Two or more annual prizes of $100,000 will be awarded, as well as a $25,000 Sherman Emerging Leader Prize for an individual who demonstrates high potential in the area of Crohn’s and colitis.

Crohn’s and colitis are diseases that can have tremendous physical and emotional effects on patients who suffer from them. While progress has been made in fighting these diseases, much can be done to improve education and care.

Nominations for the Sherman Prize will be accepted until June 6, 2016, with finalists selected in the summer. Award winners will be announced in fall 2016.

To be eligible, nominees must live and work in the United States and demonstrate achievement in the last decade, with preference give to those who more recently have made significant contributions.
