We are proud to spotlight the recent humanitarian efforts of several ASCRS fellows who participated in a life-changing surgical mission in Kenya earlier this spring.
From April 1 to April 11, 2025, the international medical relief initiative Campaign_52 carried out a surgical mission at Gynocare Women's and Fistula Hospital in Eldoret, Kenya. This group’s mission is to provide free surgical care to underserved women suffering from female pelvic fistulas and cervical cancer.
Campaign_52 is a team of self-funded volunteers comprised of surgeons, nurses, IT experts, and students representing over a dozen nationalities across four continents. Together with their Kenyan colleagues, they offered vital surgical care to 212 women and girls, restoring health and dignity to some of the most vulnerable populations.

The mission also included specialists in urology, oncology, and anesthesiology, working in close collaboration with local Kenyan healthcare teams to not only treat patients but also promote sustainable surgical training and capacity-building in the region.
The spirit of teamwork and shared purpose was palpable throughout the campaign, culminating in a heartfelt closing ceremony that celebrated the bonds forged between Campaign_52 volunteers and the Gynocare staff.
Campaign_52 has already set its sights on returning to Kenya in spring 2026, continuing its commitment to transforming lives through surgical outreach.
